Scott McLeod
Consulting Winemaker

Starting his career in Italy working in the Chianti Classico region, Scott quickly developed an appreciation for making wine based exclusively on terroir.

Upon his return to America, Scott began an illustrious career in California wine, including 18-years as Director of Winemaking and Vineyard Manager at Rubicon Estate, Francis Ford Coppola’s Rutherford property. During Scott’s tenure, the historic wine estate was restored to its former glory. Here he expanded the winery’s portfolio, increased production, raised the quality of their mid-range Diamond Collection wines and gained prominence for the estate’s flagship wine.

In honor of his achievements there, he was named Wine Enthusiast Magazine Winemaker of the Year 2009. After retiring from the Coppola Companies in 2010, Scott launched his own consultancy business.

Now, with over 25 years as one of California’s leading vintners, Scott is working to set a new direction for Valley of the Moon wines and to crafting its new luxury tier, Madrone Vineyard Estate, for future release.
